Transfers

Transferring money between wallets.

Overview

Transfers move money between two wallets. They are a special transaction type, recorded as a single transaction with two sides - an expense from one wallet and an income to another.

Creating a Transfer

Select the Transfer tab in the transaction form (only visible when 2+ wallets exist).

The form shows two side-by-side sections:

  • From wallet (expense side) - wallet selector + amount input
  • To wallet (income side) - wallet selector + amount input

Two action buttons between the sections:

  • Switch wallets - reverses both wallets and their amounts
  • Copy amount - copies the expense amount to the income field

Click on the Expense / Income label to switch which side is active for input.

When switching to Transfer mode, wallets are auto-assigned: the first wallet as expense, the second as income. If the income amount is empty, it copies from the expense side.

The transfer category is assigned automatically - you don't need to select it.

Multi-Currency Transfers

When transferring between wallets with different currencies, enter different amounts for each side. For example, transfer $100 from a USD wallet and receive €92 in a EUR wallet.

Statistics

Transfers are excluded from income/expense statistics - they are movements between your own accounts, not income or spending.

Editing and Deleting

Transfers appear in each wallet's transaction list. Open a transfer to edit amounts, wallets, date, or note. Deleting a transfer removes both sides at once.

Transfer Category

The transfer category is a system category - it's assigned automatically and cannot be selected manually when creating regular expense or income transactions.
